Cut scope, not corners
The single biggest lever is building less. Ship the smallest version that delivers real value — an MVP — and add the rest once the market confirms it's worth it. Every feature you defer is money you don't spend on something users may never have wanted.
Go cross-platform if it fits
One Flutter or React Native codebase for both stores saves 20–40% versus two native apps. It's not right for hardware-heavy or performance-critical apps, but for most business and consumer apps it's the obvious saving.
Choose the region deliberately
Developer rates range from roughly $25 to $200+ an hour by region. A capable team in Eastern Europe or South Asia can cost a fraction of a top US studio for comparable work. Match the rate to the project's risk, not just the price tag.
Don't save on the parts that bite back
The false economies are testing, architecture and a clear scope. Skip testing and you pay in bugs and bad reviews. Skip a proper scope and you pay in change requests. A quote far below the others usually means one of these was quietly removed.
